Eid Mubarak!!

Eid al-Adha is observed by Muslims worldwide for four days. Linguistically, Eid translates to Feast, and Adha translates to Sacrifice. Preceding Eid al-Adha is the day of pilgrimage, which holds significance as one of the five pillars of Islam. This year, Eid al-Adha commences on June 28th.

The celebration of Eid al-Adha commences with a morning prayer, where Muslims gather in mosques to participate in the al-Eid group prayer. During this time, they also extend greetings and good wishes to their loved ones. In our busy lives,  Eid- Aldha represents an opportunity for Muslims to connect with family and friends and visit them during these four days.

Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of the values of sacrifice and compassion, as Muslims commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion and obedience to God through his willingness to sacrifice his son. To symbolize this, Muslims who have the means sacrifice a sheep on the first day of Eid Al-Adha and gift a portion of it, or all,  to people in need.

If you have a Muslim patient or colleague, this presents a wonderful opportunity to convey your good wishes and blessings by saying “Eid Mubarak!”
