ACHE of Massachusetts Celebrates Our Women in Healthcare This Month! 

March is Women’s History Month, and Monday, March 8 is International Women’s Day. We are proud to recognize some of our incredible women leaders in healthcare this month, starting with ACHE of MA’s New President, Maureen Banks, RN, DNP, MBA, NEA-BC, FACHE!  

Dr. Banks is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, including Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Boston.  She is also President of Spaulding Hospital Cambridge, Spaulding Hospital Cape Cod, and Spaulding Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brighton. Dr. Banks has an extensive and varied background in nursing and healthcare leadership throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Virginia and New Hampshire. Dr. Banks has held senior administrative positions in academic medical centers, home care and community hospitals. She has held faculty appointments in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Currently Dr. Banks holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor at MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Dr. Banks has been active throughout her career in professional organizations.  She is the President of The Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the Board of Corporators at Perkins School for the Blind. Dr. Banks is also serving a 3-year term on the Board of Trustees for the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association and serves on the Southern New Hampshire University School of Nursing Advisory Board. Dr. Banks has held several roles for the Organization of Nurse Leaders, including President. At the national level, Dr. Banks has been a board member on the American Hospital Association’s Governing Council for Long Term Care and Rehabilitation including Chair.

Dr. Banks received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the MGH Institute for Health Professions. She received her MBA and Advanced Certificate in Health Administration from Southern New Hampshire University as a Commonwealth Fellow. Her undergraduate degree is from Boston College and she holds a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut. As a nurse, Dr. Banks’ clinical focus has been oncology and hospice care. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and recognized as NEA-BC by the ANCC.
